MySpace Starts 'Take Down Stay Down' Protection

LOS ANGELES, CA -- Online portal MySpace announced the implementation of a copyright protection feature that prevents users from re-posting video content on the portal after it has been removed at the request of the copyright owner.

The technology uses a digital fingerprint of the illegal content, so that when a piece is removed for copyright reasons, it cannot be reposted.  The system also integrates with the MySpace copyright filter, based on Audible Magic technology.  The filtering system works for both digital video and audio.
